Wondering what to eat when you’re sick? Don’t fret! Here are the 3 easy and soothing recipes for you to try:

1. Lugaw with Egg

One of the Filipino’s favourite dishes which anyone can do, even if you’re a novice in cooking. This can be produced mainly using rice, water, and a bit of salt. Some versions have chicken in it, making it a substantial meal for people that have sickness like Fever.

If you’re a beginner at cooking, don’t worry cause even individuals that don’t have the cooking skills will have an easy time putting it together. Not to mention, please save this recipe for a rainy day, too. You’ll never regret it! Add some few things on top like hard boiled eggs, crisp garlic bits, and spring onions and you’re ready to go.

2. Chicken Soup

We know for sure that this is one of the favourite meals our parents often serve when we are not feeling well. Having this wonder soup can be beneficial for people with flu, fever, or even simple nasal congestion. We think that it’s safe to say that having chicken soup along with plenty of water and an ample rest time will always work.

The Filipino version of chicken soup is easy to follow. All you have to do is boil the chicken (with bones) along with the veggies until it becomes tender. The bones help add more flavour to the soup so, don’t forget that.

Once the chicken becomes tender, the bones need to be removed and the meat shredded. This can be done by using your hands, but make sure that the chicken has cooled down. The last step is to put the shredded chicken and veggies back in the pot and cook for a few more minutes, you can add water as necessary and that’s it!

3. Garlic Broth

Garlic broth is one of the easiest recipes, and the most soothing soup we can imagine for sick days, cold nights, and any other time you need a little extra comfort. All you need is 2 heads of garlic, 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling, few herbs (such as parsley, cilantro, and/or sage), salt, and freshly ground pepper. Cook until garlic is very tender and broth is reduced by nearly half for about 30 to 40 minutes. Season generously with salt and pepper and you’re set for a great day.
